En la región Norte-Noreste del estado de Guanajuato se extiende la CUENCA que contiene al ACUÍFERO DE LA INDEPENDENCIA. Hasta hace poco esta había sido manejada oficialmente como dos acuíferos -Río Laja y Laguna Seca- causando una política de sobreexplotación del agua subterránea de la región. El presente video muestra los resultados del estudio del agua subterránea realizados en esta región por el Centro de Geociencias de la UNAM, con el cual se comprueba que la CUENCA y el ACUÍFERO DE LA INDEPENDENCIA son una unidad hidrológica natural, cuyo manejo necesita una revisión urgente para evitar el desperdicio de ese milenario y valiosísimo recurso: el agua.
